Dong'e County, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, is located in the east of Mount Tai and the south of Yellow River. It is also famous as the hometown of Chinese E-Jiao.
山东省聊城市东阿县，东依泰山，南临黄河。这里更是著名的中国阿胶之乡。
With a history of nearly 3,000 years, E-Jiao was first recorded in " Shen Nong's Herbal Classic of Material Medical", and had been used by famous doctors for generations.From the Han and Tang Dynasties to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, E-Jiao had been a tribute product.In the history of Chinese diplomacy, E-Jiao, porcelain, silk and tea had been designated as the "Four National Gifts".There are more than 3,200 classical recipes and 345 patents on E-Jiao.Nowadays, the process of making Dong'e E-Jiao has been selected into the first batch of China Intangible Cultural Heritage.
阿胶之名始载于《神农本草经》，迄今已有近3000年历史，是历代名医的必用之物。汉唐至明清，阿胶均为贡品。在中国外交史上，阿胶与瓷器 、丝绸、茶叶被世人誉为“四大国礼”。关于阿胶的经典名方就有3200余首，专利345项。现如今，东阿阿胶制作工艺被列入***批国家非物质文化遗产项目名录。
Dong'e E-Jiao is particular about high quality materials-it has to be the intact pure donkey skin and the water of Dong'e County.An ordinary piece of Dong'e E-Jiao is made through nine days and nine nights, 99 processes and 842 process control points. In the early days, making Dong'e E-Jiao was a purely manual operation. In the modernized E-Jiao production line, most of the processes have been intelligently manufactured, except for the last process, which still requires manual work.The whole process is actually both physical and technical.The efficacy of Dong'e E-Jiao in nourishing blood and Yin, moistening dryness and stopping bleeding had been historically verified.Behind these legendary histories is the spirit of Qilu artisans who are strong in virtue and self-improvement.
东阿阿胶的制作非常讲究：皮，要用整张纯驴皮；水，要用东阿县的水。一块普通的东阿阿胶，要经过九天九夜、99道工序、842个工艺控制点的修炼，才能制成。在前期，熬制东阿阿胶都是纯手工作业，现代化的阿胶生产线，绝大多数工序均已实现智能制造，仅有***后一道工序，需要纯手工作业。这整个熬制过程，实则既是体力活，也是技术活。东阿阿胶补血滋阴，润燥，止血的功效，通过了历史验证。而这些传奇历史背后，是厚德载物、自强不息的齐鲁工匠精神。
